Statement of Attorney General Thurbert Baker on Governor Perdue's Water Legislation
(Atlanta) “While Governor Perdue’s proposed conservation efforts are a step in the right direction, they are not enough to solve our water crisis. For years, one Governor after another has failed to act to ensure Georgia’s future water supply. Now we depend on water from Lake Lanier, a federal reservoir we do not control, and the whole matter has ended up in a federal court because our leaders have not lead on this issue. Enough is enough. It’s time for Georgia to build its own reservoir system and solve this problem once and for all. That’s precisely what I will do as Governor.”
